Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who has the best brand of them all? While all Iowa companies may claim to be, the choice is up to you and me.
Des Moines advertising firm Lessing-Flynn is holding it’s annual Battle of the Brands, where 65 Iowa companies duke it out March Madness-style to see who has the strongest brand in the state.
With voting left to the masses, it may seem more like a popularity contest than a tournament to decide Iowa’s best brand. But I think it’s the perfect way to determine the champ.
Lessing-Flynn’s survey asks which brand you feel the most positive about, but branding is about more than just good feelings. It’s delivering a clear, consistent message that motivates the buyer to make a purchase. Great brands create such an amazing experience that customers make repeat purchases and rave to their friends. The Battle of the Brands winner will be the company that can motivate its fans to vote often and encourage others to do the same.
Which brand is your favorite? Do you think they have what it takes to win? My heart’s with my alma mater, The University of Iowa, but I would put my money on the Iowa State Fair.
